Gladys Rowland was a 48-year-old White woman who was killed on May 15, 1954, at her rural home near Moultrie in Colquitt County, Georgia. She and her husband, William T. Rowland, were found dead after a brutal attack that shocked the community. Investigators determined that both victims had been slain with a sharp instrument inside their home. Their deaths came only a day after another double homicide in the same area, immediately raising fears that the killings were connected.
