Curtis Walker, a 13-year-old Black boy, was found dead on March 6, 1981, in the South River southeast of downtown Atlanta. His body was discovered by firemen conducting a routine inspection, lodged against a log near the River Road bridge. Walker had vanished two weeks earlier, on February 19, after leaving his northwest Atlanta home, reportedly to inquire about work at a nearby gun shop.
