Denise Michele Dunmore, a 26-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on March 31, 1980, in Detroit, Michigan. She was found strangled in the parking lot of her apartment complex in the northwest part of the city. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, shortly after she had returned from a concert performance with the Larry Robinson Concert Chorale at Detroit's Masonic Auditorium.
