Carl Isaac Estep, a 43-year-old white male inmate, was fatally stabbed on January 15, 1985, at the Morgan County Regional Correctional Facility in Tennessee. Estep had been convicted of aggravated rape and was serving a life sentence at the time of his death. His murder occurred during a guard shift change, when fellow inmates Nicholas Todd Sutton and Thomas Street entered Estep's cell and stabbed him 38 times in the chest and neck using homemade knives.
