Veronica Lynn Jefferson, a 24-year-old Black woman, was tragically murdered on May 10, 1988, in Arlington, Virginia. Her body was discovered behind McKinley Elementary School in the early hours of the morning. She had been raped and shot, and her clothing—a red sweater, matching tennis shoes, acid-washed jeans, and a denim jacket—was neatly folded beside her. The crime scene was stumbled upon by two motorcyclists passing through the area at around 2 a.m..
