On a warm summer evening in Des Moines, Iowa, 33-year-old Julie Bell Davis, a Caucasian female, was excitedly packing up her office at Skyline Display. She was preparing for a move to a more prestigious downtown high-rise, a testament to her success as a businesswoman and mother of two. Tragically, she would never complete that move.
