On August 14, 2008, Amalia Julia "Mollie" Vasquez, a 60-year-old resident of Des Moines, Iowa, lost her life to gun violence in a tragic and unexpected manner. The incident occurred on the north side of Des Moines, stemming from a domestic dispute involving a Laotian man identified as Nath Inthaboun.
