In the winter of 2004, a tragedy unfolded in Des Moines, Iowa, forever altering the lives of two families. On January 6, 16-year-old Alexis Jordan, a female, lost her life after being shot. The initial accounts of that day painted a picture of a terrible accident. Her 16-year-old boyfriend, Cordara "Cory" Lewis, was with her at his home when a gun he had been handling discharged, striking Alexis in the head. She succumbed to her injuries approximately 16 hours later.
