Mei Leung, a 9-year-old Asian girl, was tragically murdered on April 10, 1984, in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, California. Her body was discovered in the basement of her apartment building at 765 O'Farrell Street. Mei Leung had been beaten, raped, and stabbed before being left hanging over a pipe. The horrific crime shocked the community, and for decades, it remained unsolved.
