Victoria Valadez, a 43-year-old woman from San Marcos, Texas, tragically lost her life on February 7, 2025. Authorities responded to a distressing 911 call placed by a male who claimed to have killed his wife, stating that he had shot her. The call was abruptly disconnected, and despite multiple attempts by dispatchers to reconnect, there was no response. Officers arrived at the residence located in the 800 block of River Road and discovered the back door open. Upon entering the home for an emergency welfare check, they found Victoria Valadez in the back bedroom, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Juan Manuel Yanez, born on March 8, 1977. Yanez was linked to the phone number used in the 911 call, and preliminary findings suggested that he had a relationship with the victim. However, when police arrived at the scene, Yanez was not present, and his vehicle was missing from the area. Law enforcement agencies, including deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, tracked Yanez to a location he was known to frequent. He was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the same day.
Yanez has been charged with murder and is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case, and no further details have been released at this time. The tragic incident has left the community in shock, as friends and family mourn the loss of Victoria Valadez.
