Marie Marisela Trujillo-Camarillo, a 36-year-old woman from Fort Worth, Texas, tragically lost her life on the evening of February 22, 2025, in what authorities believe was an incident involving stray gunfire. She was spending time in her backyard on Frisco Avenue with her brother when bullets unexpectedly struck them both. Trujillo-Camarillo, a mother of two, was near a fire pit when the gunfire erupted, and she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Her brother, who was also hit, survived the attack.
Investigators determined that the stray bullets originated from a location roughly one block north of Trujillo-Camarillo’s home. The area behind her residence backs up to Bixby Lane, with businesses lining the Mansfield Highway just beyond. However, as of now, no arrests have been made, and the person responsible remains unidentified.
Trujillo-Camarillo’s family is devastated by the loss. Her husband, Carlos Camarillo, described her as a lively and caring individual who was always looking out for others. On the night of the shooting, she had been awaiting an Uber Eats delivery for her children when the gunfire erupted. Her final words were a call to one of her kids to retrieve the food from outside. The family is now pleading for justice, hoping that authorities will soon identify and apprehend the person responsible for the stray bullet that ended her life.
The Forest Hill Police Department continues to investigate the case, analyzing surveillance footage and tracking potential leads. The tragedy has left the community shaken, as neighbors recall Trujillo-Camarillo as a kind and respectful woman who often spent time outside with her two dogs.
