Torrance Deveroex, a 37-year-old man from Irving, Texas, was fatally shot in his apartment on February 23, 2025. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. at a residential complex on Evergreen Street. According to police reports, officers responded to calls of gunfire and discovered Deveroex inside his apartment, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The door to his residence bore several bullet holes, indicating that the shots had been fired from outside.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later determined that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Deveroex and a woman who had visited his apartment earlier that morning. After leaving, the woman contacted 26-year-old Deandre Rashaun Williams, who allegedly orchestrated a confrontation with Deveroex. Williams, accompanied by two other men—24-year-old Kendrick Kavon Perry and 25-year-old Roderick Wayne Dansby—arrived at Deveroex’s apartment. Surveillance footage captured the trio approaching the residence. Williams reportedly knocked on the door and engaged in a verbal dispute with Deveroex before stepping back and firing multiple rounds through the door, striking him.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects through surveillance footage and other evidence. On March 12, police arrested Williams and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. The following day, law enforcement officials executed arrest warrants for Perry and Dansby. Dansby was taken into custody in Irving, while Perry and Williams were transferred to Dallas County. All three suspects have been charged with murder.
Deveroex was the son of a Dallas County constable and had been an active member of his community. His mother described him as an honor student, a football player, and a mentor to young boys. He had coached little league football and led his team to a championship twice in the previous year. His tragic death has left his family and community in mourning.
