Jorge Reynaldo Guevara, a 52-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on March 11, 2015, in Irving, Texas. The incident occurred in a double murder-suicide at a home in the 3800 block of Rainier Street. Guevara was in a relationship with Fanny Judith Perez, 41, who was also killed in the incident. The perpetrator, Marvin Rene Lopez Monge, 44, was Guevara's estranged common-law brother-in-law.
Monge shot both Guevara and Perez before taking his own life.
The shooting took place around noon, and three other people were present in the home at the time, including two 16-year-olds and another adult. They managed to escape uninjured and one of them called 911 to report the incident. According to the 911 call, Perez's daughter-in-law identified Monge as the shooter.
Irving police conducted a thorough investigation, interviewing witnesses and searching Monge's van for evidence. They determined that Monge had come to the home with the intent to kill Perez and Guevara. Neighbors reported seeing Monge sitting outside the home several times in the days leading up to the shooting, and he appeared visibly upset.
The tragic event left the community in shock, and the Perez family set up a GoFundMe account to help cover funeral costs and support Perez's five children. The investigation concluded that Monge's actions were driven by his recent separation from Perez.
This case did not lead to any arrests or ongoing litigation, as the primary suspect, Marvin Rene Lopez Monge, died at the scene. The investigation focused on understanding the events leading up to the shooting and ensuring the safety of the surviving witnesses.
