On the evening of August 27, 2015, Jarelle Lamb, a 30-year-old African-American male, was returning to his home in a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood. As he arrived at his residence on the 7800 block of Limestone Arch Avenue, near South Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road, a deadly encounter was about to unfold in the very place he should have been safest.
The tranquility of the night was shattered by the sound of gunshots, prompting calls to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Lamb in his garage, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It is believed that as Lamb was parking his vehicle, he was approached by two individuals. A struggle ensued, which tragically culminated in Lamb being shot inside his own car. He was rushed to University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Investigators at the time suggested that the motive for the attack could have been related to narcotics or a robbery.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Metro Police began an intensive search for those responsible. They initially sought two persons of interest and released a security video to the public in an appeal for information. These individuals were soon located and brought in for questioning. However, after their interviews with detectives, they were released, and police confirmed they were not involved in the slaying.
Despite their initial efforts and the investigation that followed, no arrests have been made in the killing of Jarelle Lamb. The suspect, or suspects, who ended the young man's life that night have remained at large. The case, which was the 79th homicide investigated by Metro Police that year, has left a family without a loved one and a community with unanswered questions about who was responsible for this violent act.
