In the late afternoon of November 29, 2021, a dispute between coworkers at a residential pool refurbishment project in Las Vegas would end in tragedy for 30-year-old Garey Flores. Flores, a Hispanic male, was working on a pool at a home on the 2800 block of Alcoa Avenue, near West Sahara Avenue, alongside Kevin Ortiz Martinez and his brother, Oscar Ortiz, under the employment of their father, Pablo Ortiz Martinez.
