In the early morning hours of March 15, 2025, the life of 37-year-old Terrance Davon Moore, an African American man known affectionately as 'Skeem,' was tragically cut short in Norfolk, Virginia. At approximately 5:15 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim in the 800 block of Wide Street, near East Brambleton Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Moore suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, Terrance Moore was born on August 26, 1987. He attended local public schools and later achieved his GED and a barber license. Those who knew him described him as a 'gentle giant' with a radiant smile that could light up any room. He had a passion for cooking and was a devoted father to his four children: Khali, Terrance Jr., Ter’Rajae, and Talik. His death left a significant void in the lives of his family and the community where he was cherished for his warm and generous spirit.
The investigation into Moore's death moved swiftly. Within hours of the shooting, at around 8:30 a.m., police arrested a suspect less than two miles from the crime scene. Authorities took 32-year-old Tayquan O. Gallop into custody in the 2800 block of Corprew Avenue. Gallop, also a resident of Norfolk, was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Following his arrest, Tayquan O. Gallop was held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail. Officials have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting or released further details about the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter on Wide Street. As the legal process moves forward, the family and friends of Terrance Moore are left to mourn their loss and await justice.
