Jimmie Walker, a 51-year-old man, was fatally shot on April 4, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in West Oak Cliff. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Walker had suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by emergency responders. Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed a black Chevrolet Tahoe with a malfunctioning headlight pulling into a driveway across the street from the apartments.
The suspected shooter was seen exiting the vehicle and following Walker before the fatal shots were fired.
Nearly three weeks later, on April 23, another homicide occurred in Dallas. The victim, 71-year-old Percy Howard, was shot and killed while in a wheelchair outside Fair Park. Investigators linked both murders to the same suspect, 30-year-old Garrett Hudgens. Authorities executed a homicide warrant for Hudgens on April 25, arresting him in connection with both killings. Court documents revealed that shell casings recovered from both crime scenes matched each other, and cell phone data placed Hudgens near both locations at the time of the murders.
Hudgens was taken into custody following a raid at his residence in West Oak Cliff. Neighbors reported that he had only been living in the area for a short time. Police traced his vehicle, which had distinctive features, to his home. He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on two counts of murder, with a bond set at $2 million. Authorities have not disclosed whether Hudgens knew his victims or what his motive may have been.
