According to reports, a truck pulled up alongside Colwell, slowed down, and someone inside the vehicle opened fire, fatally wounding him. Colwell's girlfriend, who shared two children with him, described the devastating loss, emphasizing how Colwell had taken on a fatherly role not only for their biological child but also
for her daughter from a previous relationship.
