Death by Force

Hendrika Elizabeth Richards, a 79-year-old woman, was found dead in her home on Heacox Lane in Newport News, Virginia, on April 21, 2025. Authorities discovered her body during a welfare check, and following an investigation, her death was ruled a homicide. Richards was found wrapped in a tarp, bound with duct tape and rope, with a gunshot wound to her chest. A Smith & Wesson firearm was located nearby, along with four spent casings and a single unfired cartridge.
