On January 4, 2025, Dominique Rakil Edwards, a 36-year-old African American man from Sumter County, South Carolina, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:48 p.m. in the vicinity of Curtis Drive and Mooneyham Road. Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of rapid gunfire and discovered Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound in the 300 block of Enter Street.
