Gary Frantz, a 71-year-old man, was fatally shot on December 20, 2024, inside a Subway restaurant located in StoneRidge Plaza, Gahanna, Ohio. Frantz, who had lived in the area for 25 years, was a retired General Motors employee and was known for his passion for cars and motorsports. On the day of the incident, he was standing in line to order food when he was shot in the head with a semi-automatic pistol.
Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
The suspect in the shooting, identified as 30-year-old William Marshall, was found outside the restaurant sitting on the curb without any clothes on, with his hands raised in the air. Law enforcement officials arrested Marshall and charged him with aggravated murder in connection to the incident. Frantz’s sudden and tragic death has left his family, friends, and the local community in shock. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and other close relatives. A memorial service was scheduled to take place on January 4, 2025, at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home in Gahanna, Ohio, where loved ones gathered to honor his memory.
