Daniel Henry "Dan" Davis, a 54-year-old man from West Milton, Ohio, tragically lost his life on December 30, 2024. His passing was the result of a fatal shooting that occurred in Union Township, Miami County. Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 6:54 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire at a residence on Monroe-Concord Road, located about three miles northeast of West Milton. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Davis suffering from gunshot wounds inflicted by a handgun.
He was immediately transported via medical helicopter to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the incident stemmed from an argument between Davis and his son, 22-year-old Daniel H. Davis Jr. Law enforcement officials allege that Davis Jr. acted with prior calculation and intent when he fatally shot his father. Following the shooting, Davis Jr. surrendered to authorities without resistance and was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with aggravated murder and appeared in Miami County Municipal Court, where he pleaded not guilty. His bond was set at $3 million, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for January 7, 2025.
Davis Sr. was a well-known member of the West Milton community, and his sudden death left family, friends, and neighbors in mourning. He was survived by his wife, Lisa May Davis, and his children, Logan and Nolan Davis, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Funeral services were arranged at Hale-Sarver Funeral Home, with a visitation scheduled for January 5, followed by a funeral service at Brush Creek Church of God on January 6. The burial took place at Curtis Cemetery.
