In the city of Jackson, Mississippi, a dispute at a local convenience store tragically escalated, claiming the life of 31-year-old James Terrell McGee. On a Friday night in late September 2017, McGee was at the Chuk Stop gas station where an argument erupted between him and a store clerk.
Authorities reported that the altercation began over an alleged attempt by McGee to shoplift from the store. As McGee was leaving the establishment, the conflict took a fatal turn.
The clerk, identified as 26-year-old Chris Conley, produced a firearm and shot McGee in the head. In a strange twist of events, Conley also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand during the incident.
Following the shooting, law enforcement officials arrested Chris Conley. He was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the death of James Terrell McGee. McGee was pronounced dead on Saturday, the day after the violent encounter.
