Frederick Taylor, a 45-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on January 30, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred in the Hilltop area, specifically in the 600 block of Butler Avenue. Columbus police responded to reports of a shooting just after 10 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Frederick Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:10 a.m.

Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the case—Frederick Taylor’s own son, 19-year-old Antiono Alvarez-Taylor. According to court records, Alvarez-Taylor was taken into custody without incident and charged with murder. Columbus homicide detectives reported that no other suspects were believed to be involved in the shooting. However, police have not yet released a motive for the crime. The tragic event marked the fifth homicide in Columbus in 2025.

He also pursued a career in real estate and held a Commercial Driver’s License working at Budweiser.

He was a devoted husband to Taryn Marie and a father to four children: Daria and Antonio Alvarez-Taylor, Eddris, and Marae Tabler.
