Born on February 23, 2005, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Johndiel was a devoted father to his children, Jayden, Kaiden, and Paulette Sanchez. He was also a beloved brother to Jeremy, Cris, and Yamileydis Sanchez and a treasured uncle to Liam Sanchez. Johndiel had a deep passion for cars, basketball, and salsa music.

On the morning of February 1, 2025, Bedford Heights police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-480 West near the Aurora Road exit. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johndiel Sanchez Rivera, a 19-year-old Puerto Rican male, deceased in the driver's seat of his car, which had been riddled with bullet holes. Authorities found over 20 shell casings at the scene, indicating a violent attack. Surveillance footage from the Ohio Department of Transportation showed a dark-colored SUV passing Johndiel’s silver sedan at approximately 3:50 a.m. Moments later, the sedan crashed into the median before coming to a stop.
Following an investigation, law enforcement identified two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Johndiel Sanchez Rivera, a 19-year-old Puerto Rican male. The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Michael Sanchez Ramon, who was wanted for aggravated murder. During the arrest attempt, Ramon initially barricaded himself inside a residence in Euclid with a two-year-old child before surrendering to authorities. Additionally, Bedford Heights police apprehended 21-year-old Michael Gabriel Alvarado on February 26, 2025. Both suspects face aggravated murder charges.
