On May 14, 2025, RC Alexander, a 62-year-old African American man from Memphis, Tennessee, was reported missing after being shot outside his home in South Memphis. His girlfriend discovered him with a gunshot wound and left to seek help, but upon returning with police, Alexander was no longer at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a man matching his description—approximately six feet tall, 200 pounds, wearing a black shirt and tan pants—walking toward an area frequented by pedestrians
after midnight. A City Watch alert was issued as authorities continued their search.
The following day, May 15, 2025, Memphis Police arrested 29-year-old Carlos Heard in connection with Alexander's disappearance. Heard confessed to shooting RC Alexander in the back during an argument and subsequently disposing of his body in McKellar Lake. Heard has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. He is currently in custody at the Shelby County Jail awaiting trial.
