On a cold Sunday evening in Philadelphia, on February 16, 2025, the life of 33-year-old Khalif Leef Jahleel Moore, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Just after 8:30 p.m., on the 6300 block of North Lambert Street, the sound of gunfire shattered the night. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Moore lying in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body.
Officers rushed him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The shooting that claimed Moore's life also left another man, who was 38 years old, in extremely critical condition. The investigation into the double shooting led authorities to a suspect. On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Homicide Fugitive Squad and the U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force apprehended Michael Davis Jr., a 35-year-old resident of Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood. He was taken into custody on the 4900 block of Rubicam Street.
Following his arrest, Michael Davis Jr. was charged with the murder of Khalif Moore. In addition to the murder charge, he faces multiple violations of the Uniform Firearms Act, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. With a suspect in custody, the case is considered solved and is now pending trial.
