On the night of March 12, 2025, tragedy struck in Kernersville, North Carolina, when 43-year-old John Darnell Richardson III was fatally shot. Pierre Lafonte Moore was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and discharging a firearm into occupied property resulting in serious bodily injury. Richardson, originally from Morristown, New Jersey, had built a life in North Carolina, where he worked as a Machine Specialist at Ardagh Metal Packaging USA. He was also a Union Representative, advocating for his colleagues. A dedicated family man, Richardson was known for his love of motorcycles, his unwavering support for the Miami Dolphins, and his deep affection for children. His passing has left a profound void among his loved ones, including his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.
A funeral service was scheduled to honor Richardson’s life, with a public viewing held on March 20, followed by a service at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on March 21. His burial took place at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. As his family and community mourn his loss, the legal proceedings against Moore continue, with authorities working to ensure justice is served.
