In the quiet city of Lawton, Oklahoma, a beloved member of the community, Da'Mon Russell Jones, a 37-year-old Black male, was tragically killed. On the evening of January 18, 2025, law enforcement responded to a call in the 1700 block of NW Kingsbury, where they discovered Jones suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Lawton Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is actively
investigating the case, which has been classified as the city's first homicide of 2025. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
Da'Mon, born on December 19, 1987, was known for his warm and kind nature. He was a dedicated member of the Salt of the Earth Ministries, where he served on the Usher Board. A proud veteran, he had served in the United States Army for over five years. His family and friends remember his passion for collecting Batman memorabilia, a hobby that brought him much joy.
