On the night of March 21, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded in Goldsboro, North Carolina, resulting in the deaths of two men. At approximately 10:53 p.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a reported domestic dispute and shooting at a residence located at 1104 Edgerton Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of 42-year-old African American male Antrell Lamond Carlton and 45-year-old African American male Rondray Darnell Gooding, both deceased from apparent
gunshot wounds.
Investigations revealed that during a domestic dispute involving a female resident, Antrell Lamond Carlton forced entry into the home. Inside, he fatally shot Rondray Darnell Gooding before turning the firearm on himself, resulting in his own death. The female resident managed to escape the residence unharmed and contacted emergency services. Authorities have classified the incident as a murder-suicide and confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Antrell Lamond Carlton was born on October 21, 1982, in Pitt County, North Carolina, to Angela Marie Carlton and James Sutton. At the time of his death, he resided in Dudley, North Carolina. Funeral services for Mr. Carlton were held on April 6, 2025, at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mt. Olive, followed by his interment at Carver Memorial Park.
As this was determined to be a murder-suicide, no arrests have been made, and there are no suspects being sought in connection with the incident. The case is considered closed by the Goldsboro Police Department.
