On the evening of March 25, 2025, 33-year-old African American male John Prentiss Ward was fatally shot in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Timber Hollow Drive, near Central Avenue in the Eastway Division. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and found Mr. Ward lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
