Gina DiPietro, a 48-year-old Caucasian woman from Harmony, PA, was found dead in her home on April 16, 2025. Authorities later determined that she was the victim of a murder-suicide. DiPietro had recently purchased a townhome in Jackson Township, Butler County, and was in the process of moving forward with her life after ending a long-term relationship. She was described by her sister as a "bright light" with a bubbly and positive personality.
Investigators identified the suspect as 31-year-old Daniel Platt, DiPietro's ex-boyfriend. According to police reports, Platt entered her home while she was sleeping and fatally shot her three times before leaving the scene. He later drove to his own residence, where he took his own life. DiPietro's sister, Tina Torquato, expressed shock and devastation over the incident, stating that their family had trusted Platt despite the on-and-off nature of his relationship with Gina.
DiPietro's sudden death has left her family and friends in mourning. Her sister recalled their last conversation on Easter and shared memories of their close bond. Funeral services for Gina DiPietro were scheduled to take place in Penn Hills, where she grew up. The family also set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover unexpected expenses related to her passing.
