In the early morning hours of March 14, 2025, a sense of unease settled over the small town of Mountain Park, Oklahoma. Police were dispatched to a residence off State Highway 183 following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival at approximately 2:30 a.m., they discovered the body of 63-year-old Sandy Killian. It was determined that Killian had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was promptly called in to lead the homicide investigation.
As agents began processing the scene and gathering evidence, their investigation swiftly pointed towards a suspect: 52-year-old Chad Carl Cummings. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Cummings' residence. While conducting the search, they made a startling discovery. An adult female was found locked in a back room of the home. Fortunately, she was unharmed and safely recovered.
Based on the evidence collected and the information gathered during their investigation, Chad Carl Cummings was arrested and booked into the Kiowa County Jail. He faces serious charges of First-Degree Murder and Kidnapping. The investigation remains ongoing, with the OSBI, the Mountain Park Police Department, the Kiowa County Sheriff's Office, the Washita County Sheriff's Office, the Snyder Police Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner all collaborating on the case.
