In the late hours of a Monday night in Portland, Oregon, the life of 32-year-old Cedrell Washington, a Black/African American male, was cut short. On March 3, 2025, at approximately 11:28 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the Boise neighborhood. Arriving at the 3400 block of North Williams Avenue, officers discovered Washington deceased at the scene.
The investigation into his death was swift to begin, with Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives taking charge of the
scene. As they worked to piece together the events of that night, North Williams Avenue was closed between North Cook Street and North Fremont Street. The Medical Examiner's office later confirmed that Cedrell Washington's death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. His family, who were notified of his passing, requested privacy during their time of grief but provided a photo of him for public release.
As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.
