In what should have been a night of celebration, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in Oklahoma City. Audrey Elizondo, a 21-year-old Black female, was fatally wounded in the early morning hours of May 9, 2025. She and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Tymaine Reed, were out with another couple to commemorate their one-year anniversary. The group had been drinking at several locations before stopping at a 7-Eleven near Northwest 10th Street and May Avenue.
While their friends went
inside the convenience store, Elizondo and Reed remained in the backseat of the car. It was during this time that Reed was allegedly handling two firearms. According to police reports, he was taking selfies with a pistol in each hand when one of the weapons discharged. The bullet struck Elizondo in the face, inflicting a mortal wound. She was privately transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries the following day, May 10, 2025.
Initially, Tymaine Reed was arrested on complaints of domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon. However, following Elizondo's death, the charges were amended to second-degree murder. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the untimely death of Audrey Elizondo.
