In the quiet lakeside city of Canandaigua, New York, a grim discovery was made on April 3, 2025, at the home of Priscilla Herbik, an 82-year-old woman, and her husband. A delivery driver, noticing an accumulation of packages outside their Wyffels Road residence, alerted authorities. This seemingly small detail led to a heart-wrenching revelation inside the home located on the west side of Canandaigua Lake.
Upon their arrival, Ontario County Sheriff's deputies found the house locked with
the couple's vehicles still on the property. After forcing entry, they found Priscilla and her 81-year-old husband, Christian Herbik, deceased inside. Both had sustained gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, and a shotgun was discovered near Christian. Investigators noted that there were no signs of a struggle within the home.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and officially ruled Priscilla Herbik's death a homicide. Christian Herbik's death was determined to be a suicide. Based on these findings, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Christian Herbik being the sole suspect in his wife's death. As a result, no arrests were made, and the investigation did not seek any other persons of interest. Authorities characterized the event as an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the community.
