In the quiet community of Springfield, Missouri, the life of a young girl was tragically cut short, leaving a family and community in mourning. Fourteen-year-old Jackie Jude Strahle, a vibrant teenager who found joy in music, car rides, and spending time with her beloved family, was found deceased on January 28, 2025. Her untimely death sent ripples of shock and sorrow throughout the area, as those who knew her grappled with the sudden and violent loss of a life just beginning.
The
circumstances surrounding Jackie's death began to unfold when she was reported missing. Greene County deputy sheriffs responded to a residence in Springfield where they encountered a witness who indicated that 18-year-old Evrinn Worlds lived at the address and was in a relationship with Jackie. A search of the property raised immediate concerns, as possible blood smears were discovered near and on the back door of the home. The investigation took a grim turn when a K9 unit located Jackie's body in a nearby field, concealed within bedsheets, a sleeping bag, and layers of insulation. It was later determined that the young girl had been shot multiple times.
As the investigation progressed, details emerged from witness statements that painted a chilling picture of Jackie's final hours. One witness reported seeing Jackie at the residence on the morning of Monday, January 27, and later that evening, was awakened by someone going out the back door. The witness allegedly saw Worlds carrying a black trash bag outside. When questioned, Worlds claimed he was moving his belongings out due to an impending eviction. Another witness recounted a conversation with Worlds, who allegedly confessed that a minor suspect had shot Jackie and that he didn't know what to do. This witness claimed to have seen Jackie's body at the top of a staircase and urged Worlds to report the shooting, a plea that was tragically ignored.
The investigation led to the apprehension of Evrinn Worlds on Friday, February 14, in Madison County, Illinois. He was subsequently extradited to Springfield and booked into the Greene County Jail. While one individual was in custody, the mention of a minor suspect by a witness suggested that the full scope of the tragedy had yet to be revealed, leaving a community to await justice for a young life taken too soon.
