In the quiet hours of a Las Vegas morning, the life of 26-year-old Hispanic female, Marisela Rodriguez, came to a tragic and violent end on February 16, 2025. She was discovered deceased in a bedroom of a home in the 2100 block of Naco Court, near Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive. The cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head and neck.
The discovery was made by a resident of the home, who then alerted the authorities.
Initial reports indicated that a party had taken place at the residence the night before Marisela was found. The occupants of the house initially told police they did not know the deceased woman found in one of their bedrooms. However, it was later revealed that Marisela had a previous dating relationship with the man who lived in the home, 23-year-old Steven Flores. Marisela, a mother of three, had reportedly dropped her children off with her sister on February 15 before attending a "kickback" party at Flores's residence. Concern grew among her family when she did not return home the following day. An Instagram post from that night showed her wearing the same clothing she was found in.
The investigation into Marisela Rodriguez's death quickly led to a suspect. Steven Flores, the resident of the home where her body was discovered, had fled after the party. He traveled to Dolan Springs, Arizona, approximately 80 miles southeast of Las Vegas, where he arrived unannounced at his grandfather's home. It was there that he reportedly confessed, telling his grandfather he believed he had "killed someone."
Following this confession, law enforcement was able to track down and arrest Steven Flores in Dolan Springs, Arizona. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office SWAT unit assisted in his apprehension. Flores was subsequently booked into the Mohave County Jail and charged with one count of open murder in connection with Marisela Rodriguez's death. He is facing extradition back to Las Vegas to face the charges against him. Marisela's family, devastated by their loss, is now left to care for her three young children.
