On the evening of January 17, 2025, 45-year-old African American man Codie Jermaine James was found deceased inside a vehicle in the 2400 block of Catahoula Highway in Saint Martinville, Louisiana. Deputies from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting around 7:00 p.m. and discovered that Codie Jermaine James had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
