In the sharp chill of a late December afternoon in Baltimore, the day after Christmas in 2024, a burst of violence on East Preston Street set in motion a tragedy that would cut a young life short. At approximately 3:29 p.m. in the 2400 block of the street, Deangelo West, a 27-year-old Black male, was shot in the back of the head.
