Summary based on 4 sources
Donte Chase was 46 years old when he was stabbed late on the night of Monday, June 30, 2025, in the 700 block of North Kenwood Avenue in Baltimore. He died of his injuries at a hospital. The Baltimore Police Department investigated, and the Baltimore Sun's homicide database lists his death as a homicide by stabbing.

According to Baltimore Police, Southeast District patrol officers were called just outside a home on the block around 11:09 p.m. for a report of a stabbing and found a 46-year-old man "suffering from an apparent stab wound to the body." Fox45, citing charging documents, reported that officers found "a stab wound to the left chest and 'irregular abrasions consistent with defense wounds,'" and that court records said Chase "had been stabbed inside of the home before running outside and collapsing on the sidewalk." Medics took him to a hospital, where he died.

Police described the killing as "domestic-related." A woman who lived with Chase at the home, and who had been in a long relationship with him, turned herself in to homicide detectives on July 3, 2025, and was charged with first-degree murder. The case went to trial in March 2026 before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Jeannie J. Hong. The Baltimore Witness reported that her defense argued she acted in self-defense, and that she testified about years of abuse in the relationship. On March 6, 2026, the jury acquitted her of first-degree murder. She was convicted only of using a deadly weapon. No one else has been charged in his death.

The verdict means the court never found anyone criminally responsible for killing Donte Chase. Beyond the court coverage, little about his life has been made public. No obituary or family fundraiser that clearly refers to him could be found for this story. His photo appeared in WMAR-2 News's "Faces of Baltimore City's 2025 murder rate," a project that set out to show every person killed in the city that year, and his name was read on WYPR's "Names of Baltimore's Fallen" list. Searches for his name also turn up other men called Donte Chase, and none of those results could be tied to him.

The 700 block of North Kenwood Avenue lies in the Police Department's Southeast District, in the 21205 ZIP code, on the city's east side. It is a block of rowhouses where neighbors live close together, and the stabbing ended on the sidewalk outside the home, where someone may have seen or heard part of what happened.

Homicides in Baltimore began falling steeply in 2023 and 2024, reaching the lowest totals in decades, yet many killings from those years remain unsolved.

No conviction connected to the death of Donte Chase could be found in news archives or public records, and the only person charged was acquitted of murder. More than one year later, there is no public sign that anyone has been held responsible. Anyone who was on the 700 block of North Kenwood Avenue on the night of June 30, 2025, or who knows more about what happened inside that home, may still hold information that matters to his family.
