On the first day of the new year in Baltimore, Maryland, the life of Sheamon Pearlie, a 20-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On January 1, 2017, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police officers on patrol in the 1800 block of West Fayette Street were drawn by the sound of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered Pearlie suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
