In the early hours of January 5, 2025, a birthday celebration in Aberdeen, Maryland, turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 18-year-old Kylonne Edward Taylor. The male victim was attending a party at a residence in the 1300 block of North Sewards Court when an altercation erupted, leading to his fatal shooting.
Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the home at approximately 12:34 a.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. One victim, identified as 18-year-old Jaylen Jackson, had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. In the basement of the residence, deputies found Kylonne Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures attempted by the deputies, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide quickly led to the identification and arrest of four suspects within 24 hours of the incident. Authorities determined that four individuals had entered the home uninvited during the birthday party, which led to a confrontation. During the altercation, shots were fired, resulting in the death of Kylonne Taylor and the injury of Jaylen Jackson.
The four individuals taken into custody in connection with the shooting were identified as 18-year-old Tyjeir Cole of Aberdeen, a 17-year-old juvenile from Abingdon who was charged as an adult, 18-year-old Amir Dorsey of Edgewood, and 18-year-old Quinton Jackson, also from Edgewood. Cole and the 17-year-old were both charged with second-degree murder and were held without bail. Dorsey and Jackson faced charges of illegal possession of ammunition and were later released on their own recognizance. During the investigation, a handgun reported stolen from North Carolina was found near the victim, but detectives do not believe it was the weapon used in the shooting. The handgun used in the murder had not been recovered but was linked to a prior incident in Baltimore City where no injuries were reported.
