In the quiet town of Aberdeen, Maryland, a tragic event unfolded on April 7, 2015, ending the life of 55-year-old Thomas Peterson, a White male. The incident, which occurred in the 300 block of Mt. Royal Avenue, was determined by the Aberdeen Police Department to be a murder-suicide.
Early that Tuesday morning, Peterson shot his 56-year-old sister, Linda Ota, who was visiting from Hackensack, New Jersey.
Following the shooting of his sister, Peterson then turned the gun on himself, ending his own life at the scene. Emergency services were called, and Ota was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and died.
When police arrived, they found Thomas Peterson deceased. Investigators believe the tragic events stemmed from a domestic-related argument between the brother and sister. While the specific motive for the murder-suicide remains under investigation, it was Peterson who was identified as the sole actor in this violent encounter. Consequently, with the perpetrator deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the case.
