It was a Thursday morning like any other at the Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland, when the lives of many were irrevocably shattered. On September 20, 2018, Sunday Aguda, a 45-year-old man, went to his job, a place where he was working hard to provide for his family. Originally from Nigeria, Aguda was a husband and father, known as a special person by those who loved him.
The tragic events of that day cut his life short in a sudden and violent act.
The perpetrator of this senseless violence was identified as Snochia Moseley, a 26-year-old temporary employee at the facility. For reasons that remain unclear, Moseley began a shooting rampage during the morning break time. Aguda was the first victim, shot and killed outside the building. Following this, Moseley moved inside the distribution center, where she continued her assault, claiming the lives of two more employees and injuring several others before turning the gun on herself.
The aftermath of the shooting left a community in mourning and a family grappling with an immense loss. In a note shared with the public, Aguda's wife, Aleina Scott, expressed the profound grief of her family, stating, 'When we lost him, he was doing what he always did, working hard to take care of his family.' Because the shooter died by suicide at the scene, there was no arrest or trial. The motive behind the devastating attack remains unknown, leaving behind unanswered questions for the families of the victims and the survivors.
