On the afternoon of January 23, 2025, James T. White, a 71-year-old African American man from Shreveport, Louisiana, was fatally shot while waiting at a bus stop in the 500 block of East 70th Street in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m., and emergency responders transported Mr. White to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m. His death marked the third homicide in Shreveport and Caddo Parish in 2025.
