On the morning of April 4, 2025, 34-year-old African American woman Janette Martine Johnson was tragically shot and killed outside her home in the 6300 block of East 102nd Terrace in south Kansas City, Missouri. According to police reports, neighbors heard gunshots around 9:15 a.m. and discovered Janette lying in the street near a parked vehicle. Emergency responders transported her to Research Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
