In the quiet of a Friday night in Baton Rouge, on January 31, 2025, the life of 37-year-old Robert Hills, a male resident of the city, was tragically cut short. Hills was inside his vehicle on Oswego Street at approximately 9:11 p.m. when he was struck by gunfire. The wounds he sustained proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Baton Rouge Police Department's Homicide Division immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 59-year-old Jonathan Christopher. A few days later, on February 4, 2025, detectives arrested Christopher in connection with the death of Robert Hills.
Following his arrest, Jonathan Christopher was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces serious charges, including one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Illegal Use of a Weapon, and one count of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
