The situation began when the driver of an SUV flagged down the driver of a black pickup truck.
Wimberly was reportedly being dragged by the pickup truck. When the truck came to a stop, a disoriented Wimberly attempted to enter the back of the family's SUV. The driver of the SUV, whose identity has not been publicly released, issued warnings to Wimberly, which went unheeded.
In a fateful turn of events, the driver of the SUV, feeling threatened, discharged a firearm, striking Wimberly. The single gunshot proved to be fatal.
