On a tragic afternoon in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the life of 20-year-old Elijah Ricardo Clunie was cut short in a brazen act of violence. On September 2, 2024, Clunie was at the Exclusive Barbershop and Salon on Washington Street, simply getting a haircut. It was just before 1 p.m. when a man entered the barbershop and inquired about the wait time for a haircut. After being told it would be 20 to 30 minutes, the man left, only to return a short while later.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Diamond Jose Brito of Canton, re-entered the barbershop and walked directly over to where Clunie was seated. In a shocking and targeted attack, Brito allegedly placed a revolver to Clunie's head and fired a single, fatal shot. The violence did not end there, as Brito then fired multiple shots at another man in the barbershop. Both victims were rushed to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. While the second victim was expected to survive, Elijah Ricardo Clunie was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation into what they determined was not a random act of violence. Their efforts led them to identify Diamond Jose Brito as the suspect. On the evening of October 10, 2024, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, along with the Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Brito in the Mattapan neighborhood.

Following his arrest, Diamond Jose Brito was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a charge of murder for the death of Elijah Ricardo Clunie. He was ordered to be held without bail. Court proceedings revealed that the entire incident had been captured on the barbershop's video surveillance. Brito, who has a prior criminal record, is now facing the consequences of the violent act that ended a young man's life in a place as ordinary as a neighborhood barbershop.
